The “Pod” camper and My Girl- Bend, Oregon

My girl!

I just returned home from a weekend of camping in the “Pod” with my beautiful girl in Bend, Oregon. We stayed at the Scandia RV Resort. I think I am stretching it to use the word “RESORT”. I would give this RV official camping business a 3 out of 5, and I’m being generous. It’s a 1950’s style RV resort with amenities that have maybe made it to the 1980’s. It offers a convenient location off of Hwy 97 in the heart of Bend.

However, the resort really has not been updated to match the $80+ dollar a nite reservation fee. With that being said….it did offer a full hook up pull through site. A common restroom is available with a shower stall. There are two sections in this resort. An area designated as the long term or full time renters and the RV area.

The RV short term area is situated closest to Hwy 97, flanked by an automobile car lot, and Wendy’s restaurant. The picnic table was filthy, the lawn area of my site was a 10′ X 2′ mounded strip of dead grass which offered a nice teeter toter option for seating and cooking. The fresh smell of dog poop enhanced our appetite.

I am thankful for the available site, as I felt mostly safe and it was very convenient to walk to many shopping options (Bend Outlet Store, Walmart, and Fred Meyers) with a .25 to .50 radius from the location.

Regardless of the amenities, I had a fabulous time with my daughter and our dog Zeus! We attended a wedding in Sunriver on Saturday morning prior to check it. The weather was scorching at 104 degrees with humidity in the 90%. The “Pod” rocked it with a functional AC Unit ! It sounded like we were under a C-130 the entire night but heck….the cold air felt great!!

On Sunday morning we visited the Old Mill District -dog park, and paddle boarded on the river. At 8:45 AM it was already 80+ degrees which made dipping our feet into the cold river palatable. By 10:00 it was already 90 degrees. The river was marvelous!!

Zeus, my best dog friend, loved the river. He lived his best life swimming in the river. This area is a great place for a variety of recreational activities. A 10/10 for enjoyment and amenities. .https://traveloregon.com/things-to-do/attractions/10-things-to-do-in-bends-old-mill-district/. I love this area of Bend, Oregon.
